The Green Max GST22 is a heavy-duty, all-steel ST trailer tire in load ranges G (14-ply rating) and H (16-ply rating). It is for heavy travel trailers, fifth wheels, car haulers and equipment trailers that need more capacity than a load range E tire can give.
All-steel means steel cords in the body plies as well as in the belts. A lighter ST tire typically uses polyester body plies. The steel casing lets the tire carry a heavy load at high pressure with less flex, and less flex means less heat for a longer-lasting casing. The symmetric ribbed tread keeps the trailer tracking straight at highway speed, and deep circumferential grooves move water out of the footprint. The flat footprint spreads load to even out wear. Tread depth is 10/32 inch. Speed ratings run from L (75 mph) to N (87 mph) depending on size.
Two things help you get its full capacity. First, the wheels: load range G and H tires run at high pressure, up to 110 psi on the 16-inch sizes, so pair them with wheels stamped for that pressure. Second, the speed rating, which varies across the range and is molded on the sidewall of each size. The ST235/85R16 in load range G carries 4,409 lbs per tire on a single axle (load index 132/127).
Best-suited for: fifth-wheel trailers, large travel trailers, toy haulers, car haulers, gooseneck and equipment trailers.
Tire Best Features:
- An all-steel radial casing carries heavy loads with less flex and heat.
- Load ranges G and H for the heaviest trailers.
- A symmetric ribbed tread for straight tracking at highway speed.
- Deep circumferential grooves resist hydroplaning.
- A flat footprint spreads load for even wear.
