Dunlop Tires
Dunlop tires are credited with being the inventor of the pneumatic tire. It started in 1888 when John Boyd Dunlop's son was struggling to ride his tricycle. To make the child's ride more comfortable, Boyd fitted his tricycle with tires made of canvas bonded with liquid rubber. Boyd patented his idea and the method of vulcanization was the predecessor to the pneumatic tire. The benefits of air versus solid rubber tires soon became apparent for bicycles, early cars, and almost every type of motorized vehicle from that point forward.
For the next 125 years, Dunlop Tire Company has continued to come up with product breakthroughs, making them a leader on the racetracks, and on the highways and roads around the world. One of the company's innovative technologies that you can find in the various car, truck and SUV tires is Hydro-Paddle Technology™ which uses strategically configured tread grooves to quickly and efficiently channel water out from under the tire. Another one is Multi-Pitch Tread Design Technology™ which reduces the noise of the tire. Other technologies in Dunlop tires are Active Traction Sipe System™ for better ice and snow grip, and Silicarbon Matrix™ tread rubber for better grip in both wet and dry weather.
